Jim Alves a wonderful friend.

I have known Jim for over 50 years. And as a friend & neighbour I found him to be a really special person. For 15 years we went swimming together, twice a week in Belfairs pool. He loved his garden and his wife Angela. A keen church member of both St David's & St Laurence Eastwood. I did not know him as a school teacher, but what I did hear was very Complimentary. Jim proof read my books for which I am so grateful. He would mark problems in red and sometimes wrote SEE ME!

A happy mam, who Everlyn and I were extremely fond off. Everlyn's son, Julian, was one of his Geology students and remenbers him as a remarkable man. He was the deputy head master at Southend Grammer School and was well liked.

His death will leave a void in our lives.

Rest In Peace Jim.
